Ink and Holes.
At the moment I have one septum piercing and two tattoos. This is Amphitrite, also known as Amy. She’s my mermaid, and like most mermaids its very difficult to get a good picture of her. The way she curves around my body makes the dimensions look off, pictures could never do her justice. The text is a little hard to read in most pictures too, it says “I live to set you free”. I got her because I grew up with the ocean, basically. My first favorite movie was “The Little Mermaid”, and when my mom was teaching me to swim I refused to kick my legs for the longest time because “that’s not how mermaids swim”. A lot of my favorite memories with my family are at the Aquarium of the Pacific, or at Huntington Beach. I could never live somewhere landlocked. I’ve also had problems maintaining friendships with female friends. I tend to pick dominant people, and the catch to that is that they tend to use me. That happened a lot through Elementary School, Middle School, and finally about halfway through Highschool I decided that enough was enough and became just one of the guys. Amy is a girl that I can count on to ALWAYS be by my side. I know she’ll never age better than me, she’ll never look prettier than me, and she’ll always be willing to listen :) Originally I was going to have her holding a bubble, but my artist (Adam Narvaiz of Death Before Dishonor in San Jose, CA) suggested a skull to make it more distinct. I pondered it for a while, and decided that not only had I seen enough mermaids with bubbles, but that it would be a keen reminder to face my fears. Amy is staring death in the face and is complacent as can be, so I can take a lesson from her and push on through whatever challenges me. The script is sort of self explanatory. The ocean (and water in general) has always been somewhere that I could forget everything else. I would spend HOURS in the pool, and get so dark from the sun at the beach as a kid. Even now, the beach is a place where I can completely lose myself. I’d like to introduce my lady, Amphitrite.
My second tattoo (well its actually my first one) is across my hips. Its much smaller, but I love it nonetheless. The rose in the center is a tiny outline of the rose from Beauty and the Beast, the Celtic knot design is actually from a ring that I constantly wear, and the little swirlydoos are based off of my grandmother’s wedding china. I might have to alter this one in the future, to get it to flow better into my mermaid and then down onto my future thigh piece, but for now this is what I have(: I don’t have any pictures of the process for this one, so you’re stuck with this :p The Product;
As for piercings, I sadly only have one (not counting my ears), but I would like to get more :) I retired my lip piercing as I honestly got annoyed with it. Eventually I’ll probably re-pierce it. But that’s in the future. Perhaps some dermal anchors eventually as well, and maybe a vertical labret.
